Phenix & Phenix recently began filming for a series of literary videos that will become Shelf Life TV, hosted by Kimberlie Dykeman (Pure Soapbox…a cleansing jolt of perspective, motivation, and humor, Wiggy Press, July 2008). Shelf Life TV will feature author interviews, and provide author biographies and book introductions.

The Blanton Museum of Art will feature W. Joe Hoppe’s poems as part of The Blanton Poetry Project. The museum will include his poems “Josephina Guilisast’s ‘La Vigilia’” and “Max Weber’s ‘New York at Night’” in its display of poetry in the gallery. The poems and Hoppe’s brief biography will be featured next to the Guilisasti and Weber paintings in the museum, and will be available for viewing for the next several months.

Get ready for another Stikmantic convention experience! Thursday, March 27 through Sunday, March 30, Robert Stikmanz will attend his second sci-fi/fantasy convention this year, AggieCon, in College Station. Stikmanz will be set up in the dealer room to sign and sell his first novel Prelude to a Change of Mind and its companion Nod’s Way. He will guide consultations of the oracle and talk more about The Hidden Lands of Nod series.

In celebration of Small Press Month, five Austin-area Barnes & Noble stores will feature Dalton Publishing displays during the month of March. Each store will display the entire Dalton Publishing catalog of books.

The five Barnes & Noble bookstores that will each host a Dalton Publishing display throughout the month of March and beyond, include the stores in Westlake, Round Rock, the Arboretum, and the Sunset Valley and Bee Cave locations.

Latest News: Hill Country Writer’s League Presents Joe O’Connell

On Thursday, February 28, the Hill Country Writer’s League will host a book reading for Joe O’Connell, author of Evacuation Plan, a novel from the hospice. In 2001, O’Connell was chosen to spend time at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House and tell the stories of the terminally ill briefly housed there. Evacuation Plan tells the story of a young screenwriter who enters the hospice searching for his next plot idea, but he discovers much more than that- about himself and about the people he encounters at the hospice.

Through May 2008, The Hill Country Writer’s League meets the fourth Thursday of each month at the ACC Cypress Creek campus in Cedar Park.

This weekend, February 22-24, you can find Dalton Publishing’s own Robert Stikmanz at ConDFW in Richardson (Dallas), Texas. Stikmanz, author of novel Prelude to a Change of Mind and its companion Nod’s Way, will be at the Stikmanz table in the convention dealer’s room, demonstrating Nod’s Way consultations and selling and signing books and oracles.

To make Dalton Publishing’s arrival into Barnes & Noble bookstores even more official, our very own Joe O’Connell will participate in the Mind & Spirit Speaker Series at the Barnes & Noble Westlake location on February 24, 2008 at 4pm. O’Connell will speak about his novel Evacuation Plan, a novel from the hospice and the subject of hospice. Following, the floor will open up for group discussion and Q&A. O’Connell will sign copies of his novel after the informal discussion session.
