Evacuation Plan by Joe O'Connell

“The Wager,” Janet Heimlich’s stage play adaptation of “The Gambler,” a short story from Joe O’Connell’s novel Evacuation Plan, will be featured during FronteraFest at Hyde Park Theatre on January 25, 2008 at 8pm.

“The Wager” tells the story of Fred, a man who gambles away everything that he and his wife own. They are forced to live with Fred’s father, Eugene, a convicted murderer who runs a halfway house for mentally ill parolees. When Fred tries to prove that he’s better than his “ex-con Papa,” Eugene decides to teach his son a life-changing lesson.
