Michael Gilmore Joins the Dalton Gang with a New Poetry Collection

August 15, 2008

Dalton Publishing is thrilled to announce the release of long-time Austin poetry rebel Michael Gilmore’s Restless Astronomy. This is his first collection of poetry in over two decades. The collection includes older, previously published poems as well as new, intensely incisive pieces. Ranging expansive topics, Restless Astronomy covers love and loss, past relationships, the passing of heroes, parenting, and encounters with the world from Chinese cafés to Russian poet icons.

Michael Gilmore has rounded the globe in his lifetime, and his residency in such varying locales has created a background of diverse experience and an international palate, which both lend to molding his poetry. Restless Astronomy has recently received attention from Texas Poet Laureate Larry D. Thomas who brings to light that “Each page of this daring collection of poems smolders before our eyes, lucent with love and erudition.”

Join us at the BookPeople release party on August 27 at 7pm for a reading and booksigning by this always brilliant wordsmith.

Imaginative and poignant, Rowan of the Wood breathes new life into the mythic “orphaned hero” archetype, and was recently named a Finalist for the 2008 National Best Books Award. (More...)
