Traditional Publishing: Yes, we are a traditional publisher. We choose which books we publish, and pay royalties on what we sell. We do not ask for money. That said, please take some advice and seek guidance when submitting your queries.

Hybrid Publishing Option: Some people call this co-op publishing. Dalton Publishing offers its authors an option to buy books directly from us at a substantial discount. This gives authors who do a lot of public appearances an opportunity to sell their books directly to their audience at a higher return than they would ordinarily make. This is NOT vanity publishing! Dalton Publishing continues to sell and market its author’s books through traditional distribution outlets and the Internet, and the author is not allowed to market outside of his or her personal speaking engagements. Furthermore, the author is not required to purchase any books if he or she has no need to. This option is offered as a convenience to the author.

Submission Guidelines:

We are particularly interested in working with authors in the Austin area.

Please send us a query first.

1. Identify the work and include a brief author biography and marketability statement regarding you and your book.

2. Include a brief synopsis (1-2 pages) covering the entire plot, theme, and structure of the book. (The synopsis should also identify the genre, word and page count, and whether or not the book will be illustrated.)
